Title: Problem with 6" Expander Wheel
Post by: Peter Hawthorn on September 01, 2019, 03:12:16 PM
I have a 4 Wheel machine with 2 hard wheels on one side and an Expanding Wheel and a soft Wheel on the other side. I have noticed that the expander seems to run out of round only touching the stone a few times per revolution  and also the new Belts I got were a little bit narrower than the ones supplied with the machine. Also when I apply any pressure to the wheel with a stone the belt wants to wander off the wheel ?

Sounds like you may have a belt that's a little large for the wheel. Our club has experienced what you describe before and it turns out that not all belts are exactly the same size. I would suggest some are made for metric wheels, some are for imperial. A difference of a couple of mill will make a difference.

We had one that just got old and the rubber went too hard to expand.

Rusted, that is another possibility, nothing lasts forever!
