Heya guys! Long time no see!

Im not sure if you would remember me... I was a regular up until 3-4 years ago :-D
Thought I would come back and check in with everyone. Also, I wouldnt mind tagging along on group trips!

I am happy to say, that I've accomplished sooo much in the last few years of my absence.
In 9 months I will be a geologist!!

I would LOVE to catch up with anyone who wants to do a trip within 300km on canberra :-D
I am heading to wee jasper tomorrow to make the most of my last day of freedom before uni starts back!

Hello all, the silly season is here!  beers

I havn't been on here for a while. The last couple of months has been pretty difficult. My partner and I broke up just after MM so things have been rough. All is good now except for the fact that I have been fossicking ONCE in the last 2 months! Which is huge because I usually go every weekend! I am having major withdrawals and I need a fossicking buddy! I would go by myself but my mother is worried that I will be attacked by snakes, pigs, yowies ect...  ;D :o Haha! So if anyone wants to do something give me a buzz, I'll go anywhere!

Fossicking Locations / Fossicking/detecting Barraba-Bingara area
« on: September 06, 2009, 10:15:09 AM »
Hey guys and girls  beers

It's almost time for our glen innes trip! So excited!  ;D Dave and I are planning to spend a couple of nights in Barraba prior to glen innes. Where is the best place to detect/pan for gold around Barraba and Bingara? I read somewhere, around Bingara, the ground is quite shallow, so it's good for detecting. Other people have said across from woodsreef mine near Barraba is good too.

Does anyone have any tips?

We look forward to meeting all of you  ;D

Trip Talk / Tumbarumba Trip
« on: May 06, 2009, 11:30:47 AM »
Hey guys, I was thinking about going to parsons gully near Tumbarumba on Sunday the 24th or Sunday the 31st. I want to do one last trip there before the snow. I've been stuck in that gully in my little excel... it’s not fun!  :P It’s easy to do in a day, maybe a 2 hour drive. We cut through the Brindabella’s. If there’s only a couple of people interested we could just take one car to save fuel. This is our secret spot, it's beautiful, with a small running creek out in the open. We come across brumbies and wild cattle alot. Fine gold with the most amazing coloured blues. I love the red zircons, in one sieve you will find at least 20 of them, they are blood red.  ;D ;D I get Goosebumps just thinking of them! hahaha  ;D I will try to upload a photo of the blues today.

Trip Talk / first gold
« on: April 27, 2009, 08:10:32 PM »
YAY! We went to wee jasper today and I found my first good sized gold!!!!!

I did a few sieves and it was freezing, I said to my partner "if I dont get anything in this lot, we'll go". I flipped it over and screamed! I said "Dave! look! its a small green sapphire!" I turned to get the tweezers when dave said "Hey, is that gold?" I came running over to look and when I saw it I thought it was a bit of foil.  ;D  When I realized what it was  :o I started shaking and I almost cried! My next sieve had a bit of gold too.  :o :o :o 8)
Dave panned my tailings and found a heap of smaller pieces of gold.
My hands were so numb I couldn't feel the rocks ripping two of my fingernails off :(

We finished off by collecting quartz crystals. It was a fantastic day! I dont know how I'll be at work tomorrow. I'm a hairdresser and need to use my fingers!  :( It was so worth it though!
