Trip Talk / Tumbarumba
« on: December 16, 2013, 02:13:50 PM »
Hey all. I have been away from the forum for awhile, but since people still contact me for advice or trips in the Tumba area I thought I would jump back on here.

Well it's that time of the year again when the creeks are getting low enough and the weather warm enough to get back into the gems.  So if anyone is heading this way over the summer period and you would like to catch up for a dig I am more than happy to show you a few spots around the area or any other advice you may be after.

Happy hunting

Trip Talk / Tumbarumba sapphire dig
« on: February 07, 2011, 04:51:06 PM »
To anyone who would like to come to Tumbarumba for a fossick for sapphires, zircons, garnets, topaz, gold and more. I am lucky enough to live up here in Tumba so to anyone who would like to come up and enjoy the great fossicking on offer I am more then happy to show you around. I have numerous spots to fossick some on private property and have been finding some nice gem over the summer. The creeks and streams are high after the recent downpour(150mm) so it would be best to leave it for a month or so before a trip up here would be worth while. To anyone that is interested please don't be shy come along. I have not set an exact date as I can go any weekend, but I was thinking mid to late march would be a good time. So I will leave the dates up to anyone else that is interested.

Ask a "Silly" Question / gravity dredge
« on: February 04, 2011, 09:35:52 AM »
Hi guys, I have recently made a gravity dredge and it works well so long as u have enough fall. Just wondering about other peoples experiences with a gravity style dredge, also it seem to be a grey area on its legality, I am in n.s.w so any info on wether or not it is legal would be great, as I dont want to do the wrong thing. I have only used the dredge once for sapphires and picked up a lot of stone including a 6 carot bomb.
