Thanks Lefty. We have a couple of claims at Divide so it sounds like they may be safe for now.

The I received a reply on  another forum from a person who says he received a phone call from the DMNR telling him that his active claim in another part of the gemfields now falls within an ERE and can no longer be recognised.

Lefty, can you say where this other part of the gemfields is?

Anyone else not seeing pictures in early media gallery ???. I can see details but not any pictures. Recent ones are ok though.  Wondering if it is just my computer. Sioux

I didn't realize it was on Bluey. With soooo many cars there I reckon it must have been important.

No Bluey, I saw the bikies at the football fields, this was at the community centre in Sapphire. Lady at the
Bluegem said it was a miner's meeting.

Can anyone from Sapphire/Rubyvale fill me in on what the meeting was for at Sapphire yesterday. I didn't realize it was on and was too late to attend.  By the huge number of cars present and the three police officers on hand, it looked like it was important.

Any info would be appreciated.

ps. I am a member of the Sapphire Producers Assoc but don't receive any news from them.

Cost is only $5.00 per car which I think is donated to charity.

The other thing you could do or have done is carving :)

Just got back home today and unpacking all the camping gear, washing and so on. Haven't had a chance to go through our finds properly yet. Hopefully we have a couple of cutters among them. We ended up with zircon, garnet, quartz, apitite and some iolite. The iolite we only specked old diggings for.

The Belgians are still there but we didn't talk to them.

The trip took over 5000km so we are happy to be home but not for long. Still have some time up our sleeves so it's off to Mackay for some crabbing and fishing before settling back down again.

We are currently in a motel in Winton on our way home from our trip to Harts Range and I must add to the "cat story". On about our second night we heard a noise in the kitchen part of our tent. Hubby unzipped our tent to find a HUGE cat staring at him  :o. He jumped back quick smart holding the flap closed when it went for him. After we heard it take off we investigated what it had been after and found a full fruit cake had been pulled out of a shopping bag and dragged to the where it had gotten in. It had already had a few bites. Daughter and I made fun off him next day when he said how big it was but then a fellow camper brought over a copy of a local newspaper that showed photos of large cats being caught in the Territory. One is said to be 20kg :o.

Sounds like a great trip. We leave for Rubyvale tomorrow to pick up our daughter and then we are off. Plan to stay at Mt Isa Tuesday night and then through to Gemtree on Wednesday. We are all keen fossickers so hopefully we will cover a good bit of ground.
