$2500 hope they tack on a couple of zeros, otherwise that's an incentive not a deterrent.

The way I read it is existing mining leases,Prospecting permits and exploration permits will honoured.
However New Mining activity will be subject to approval by the department?

Following the numbers.
640 submissions received,200 relating to prospecting and hunting,190 to remain unchanged,160 for additional conservation.
Result.
The hunters get a tick in a single box and prospectors have access equal to that of dogs!

This certainly was an interesting case!
Does raise the question of why the police let a known armed criminal gang run around for five months.
Under the UK 1997 Firearms Act section 5 carries a heaver sentence than what they received.

Ask a "Silly" Question / Re: Oxenford jasper
« on: April 20, 2018, 09:58:37 PM »
So I'm curious and have questions.
 • Are we referring to the "Crest hill reserve"?
 • How come no group has looked to take on the trustee lease?
 • Is there an access mechanism available through the local council?
And please these are genuine questions, I have been associated with trustee reserves in the past, we have lots of them spread through out the state and few are utilised.

Local council zoning will absolutely need to be considered.(Depending on the status of your land).
Mineral resources act 1989.
Fossicking act  1994.
Land access codes 2016.( Still awaiting amendments for private to public access).

Control F   "400" (Do a little pee).

Greetings GM.
Perhaps it would be prudent to research what is Legally viable.
Landscape suppliers who follow the whole quarry process, (hense the big price tags on feature material),will be PO if someone revitalises the black bolder market.

I agree with above suggestions open it to the public, that way as the landowner you have ultimate say in the process.

The department now has available an official private land access form which enables the transfer of liability back to the state.
Thus negating the "insurance" issue.
50 dollars for 50 hours is the last piece of paper you hand over which usually opens a lot of gates.

The rains eased off in the North for the moment.
It's amazing the difference a good wet has to the dynamics of a fossicking site.

I can't remember my own first.
However one of my family members first stones was a kangaroo agate, which was popped in to her mouth to give it a clean. :-*
With predictable results.

G'day RockOtter (cool super name by the way.) :P
Garnets typically are cubic variations, rhomboid natural facets or soccer balls.
They could possibly be either Almadine or pyrope  as well.
Some photos an more information on their origin will help.
I cart around a modified torch to back light ,this usually is sufficient to reveal the stone.

Agreed with all of the above, if it's a really old collection, even the bottles could be of value.
