Ok, a quick write up of the trip on the weekend.

After have a quick session of fishing, I met up with Kristy and Dave outside the General Store at Wee Jasper, after a quick handshake and introduction we quickly got back into the car, as it was freezing, and headed up in tandem to the hills.

Once there I showed the crew a few places to dig, and then after a quick show and tell, we headed back to Kristy's spot where she got her first gold.  Dave unpacked the digging gear and we left Kristy at the crossing to dig on here own, as Dave and I jumped back into the 4x4 and went exploring.

We drove around for a while, looking for another place in mind, but never found it, so it was back to crossing to tell Kristy that we had decided to head back up to the old gold races and have a go with the detectors.  Apart from some old cans and unusual marked metal things, we headed back to the dig site about an hour later and got stuck into the wash.

My takings for the day: 4 green sapphires (1 cutter), a few sizable zircons worth sending to thailand, and a bucket full of wash concentrate that I will put through the sluice.  I panned off a bit yesterday and found a lot of crunchy gold, more then the other spots.

Dave and Kirsty got a few greens, and gold in their pan.

We knocked off around 2.30 and headed back into town to buy a few cold drinks, only to find that the shop had been shut and a sign said that because the shop was being sold, that today was the last day of trading.  Must have just missed it by a few hours.

As the weather was with us, I headed back to the river for a fish, while Dave and Kristy headed out to the quartz seam.  The whole mountain side is shedding quartz and a few crystals can be found lying around.

Oh, and btw, its starting to get really cold down that way ;D

When you say the Zircons are worth sending to Thailand, what size are these?
Don't you facet?
Crunchy gold? Don't bring them out when eating breaky.

Well done Kristy too.
Keep em comin!!!

It was a fantastic day! But you forgot to mention my yabby hole!
I was digging away in Daves hole and I found a little pocket above the clay, then came the smell. It was disgusting. I scooped it all out and I screamed. It looked like a cooked prawn with claws! I yelled a few choice words and Dave came to the rescue. Although I got a green sapphire out of it, I couldn’t bring myself to get more! I told Michael to continue that hole but he just stood back smirking! :P

 ;D
Kristy. PS I want to go to blue hill quarry next!

Bam Bam did goood.

Yeah, those bigger zircons I send to Thailand to get cut.  They are about 3 or 4 to a carat.

I don't facet yet.  I am only collecting at the moment.  I have not enough time to start another hobby. :-\

Oh, I love a feed of yabbies, but this one was nice and orange and looked like he was down there for a while
