Tiger eye rough
« on: May 11, 2013, 09:26:54 PM »
Hi all,

I've recently been searching for some rough, preferably variegated, tigers eye.  I wouldn't mind some of the Marramamba stuff I've seen around.  Trouble is it seems that the bulk of the rough I've seen, be it from Australia, South Africa or elsewhere, is for sale from the USA with quite large delivery fee attached.  Does anyone know of some locally available that is of reasonable quality, I'm looking at cabbing some.

Thanks, Garry

Another late night 'hoose?

Thanks for the link, I'll drop Glenn an email to see if he's got anything a bit bigger.  Not that long back from Perth either, bugger!

Obviously the yanks buy a lot of his stuff as I notice his prices are quoted in US dollars.

yep and late to get up.
Glenn takes most his gear to the US and does the big shows Tucson and Quartzite. Most sales here are by the tonnage to co.'s and the US is a huge market for his wares and obviously worth the container loads to go there.
Not sure why he doesn't sell more locally/publicly, probably more to do with not hurting sales to the dealers here.
Pretty sure someone here teed up a visit to him when they made contact.
Would LOVE that slab on his site.
Keep em comin!!!

 Hi Bucket
Came accross this website by chance, googled gemstones Paraburdoo and came to this site,I lived there for 11 years in the 80's and was at work in the Pilbara on nightshift and was feeling a bit nostagic, i used to run a Gemstone business out of there (Rough and Ready Gemstones) I was poking around and saw you were looking for some rough Tiger eye. I can help you I also have a Tiger eye lease out at Mt Brockman I know Glen and  Barry Kayes From Aradon who also has a lease up there, my lease  is about 6 klms from them on the same Namuldi Ridge where the Tiger eye is found. Marra Mamaba is often used to call any Tiger eye from the Pilbara but it only come in very small quantities it is a beautiful red somtimes with blue through it (Falcon Eye) and is highly chatoyant. A tonne or two of that and it can pay for your whole dig, really A grade can go for $800 per Kg but it is very very rare, but i can help you with very good quality Tiger Eye some with colours other than gold, get back to me if interested and see what we can do.
Regards
R&R

Not contributing to the thread other than to say thanks for the link Mehoose. Glenn has some amazing stuff and that petrified wood is amazing - enjoyed watching the videos.
