When yousay wax the dop, just not sure whatyou mean. I have never successfully used wax on dops.

What he does.

1. Coat the end of a dopstick with a "blob" of wax.
2. Warm the wax gently while doing nothing to the stone.
3. Press the warm wax "blob" to the temporary table of the stone for a very short period of time, long enouth to make an impression.
4. After withdrawing the stick from the stone (the wax wont stick to a cold stone) apply a small bead of glue, and push the stick and the stone back together.

This process creates a perfect imprint of the stone for the superglue to stick to, so you don't have to worry about lumps on the end of your dopstick.

This works best if you Dop using clay/gel in a transfer jig (or a MagDop)

Yes, you can do this also for a pavilion, however I would not recommend using cyano for the pavilion on transfer.

A gap filling epoxy (tite-on) will probably be the best choice for the transfer using this method.

Bake your jig (assuming it has no plastic parts) on your ovens minimum for like 30 minutes to be sure.

Wow!!

Never thought of the oven for hardening Tite-On, I just use a 100 watt light to sit it under for about 45 mins to an hour if I am in a hurry.

DEB,
I use the green stick wax. I put the wax on the dop stick by warming it and smearing it and then push it against the stone while still warm , using a face plate. I usually shellac the stone first. For those who don't know shellac is the old fashioned varnish which you can still buy from paint shops.
hope that helps
Rex

I ended up putting the dop on the little shelf above my computer. There was a nice steady flow of warm air. Working so far.
Keep em comin!!!
