Tumbler running hot
« on: December 31, 2015, 05:10:51 PM »
My son just bought me a new 3A tumbler to replace the one he permanently borrowed
The problem i had is i loaded it with the stones that came with it and it seems to be running too hot with the top of the motor running at 50 degrees a bit hot to leave your hand there
The barrel is 2/3 to 3/4 full
Should i remove some stones?

It is normal for these tumblers to run hot - not unusual for the top of the motor housing to be too hot to leave your hand there.  Despite this, motors will run without problem for years - we stock spare motors but hardly ever sell them except for tumblers that have done many years of work or those who have bought the wrong voltage when it looked cheap on ebay.

As long as they are in a well ventilated area - ie. dont run them in a box or cupboard - all should be well.
