Good morning All,

I am just chasing some information on making a simple pulsator, hibanker or gadget that I can run my wash through to catch gemstones. All my wash has already been through the trommel to sift out all the fine sand.

Any information/photos would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Mike

  • A friends find
Going back many years ago I was high banking a creek with 3 other high bankers
the interesting thing about this was the high banker next to me was unusual
he had his water going through a counter weight in a sealed round compartment (like a water wheel)
under his sluice which made the sluice pulsate the water then flowed into the sluice and down the riffles
sorry never took a photo of it but I can still remember the sluice
regards Harry

Mud Guts beat me to that suggestion  :)

As you have already put the gravel through a trommel a simpler solution would be to use a sieve and water tub (wet),  shaker and sieve (dry) or a willoughby with a sieve and tub (wet). Just google willoughby.  ;)

Also depends how much you want to process.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Thanks JimnyJerry,

I have a Willoughby and Sieves so this is definitely possible. The only issue is it is back breaking to do it this way and im wanting to process between 10-50 buckets at a time.

cheers Mike

Sounds like you have a mine or claim going so you will need something big.  :)

Yes I do have a claim JimnyJerry

Something big enough to process 10-50 buckets would do the trick.

Imagine how long it will take with a Willoughby/Sieves.

Go to Gallery and type in pulsator in the search space.

You will get a lot of pictures of them including snappas.
Unfortunately the large picture does not appear so you will be stuck with small pictures.

If you are up Rubyvale way you might find some small units for sale.  :)

A few ALFers are also miners up around Rubyvale - Sapphire. Hopefully some will lend a hand or suggestion.  :)

Greetings Mike.
Set your self some Specifications.
So you can determine the out come.
Example
  • Water requirements.
  • Process volume.
  • Budget.
  • Build time.
  • etc.
Nigel.

Thanks Nigel,

For water I have 2 pods and 2 drums totalling 2500 litres. I would like to recycle the water if possible.

All going well I'd like to process up to 50 buckets or 1 tonne per session.

I've allowed myself a budget around $500 for a second hand Pulsator or highlander.

Well I'm.heading back up to the Claim in late June so would be great if I had something by then.

Cheers mike
