Thanks to Murraylands Club
« on: August 01, 2016, 06:38:07 PM »
Just want to let everyone know how welcome I was made on my unexpected visit to Palmer SA and the Murraylands Gem and Mineral Club located there. SWMBO and I are travelling at the moment and were free camping at the Palmer Rec ground, when we noticed a building with bars on it. A couple of days later people started tuning up there and it turns out its the clubrooms of Murraylands Gem club.

What a lovely, welcoming bunch of people I met including Dughug, who was very helpful and generous with his time. Anyway just wanted to publicly thank them for their company and and the use of their shower!

They have a show type thing in May and we could well be that way next year.

By the way the free camping area is really quiet, has clean toilets and is located in a very old olive grove! Handy to the Adelaide hills and Mannum on the Murray River.
Common sense isn't exactly common

Sounds like you had a great time Bucket  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

It was great to meet Bucket again after the Ulverstone Gemboree. I'm sure his wife was thankful that he was able to come up to the Murraylands Clubrooms and have the opportunity to play with his rocks there. (She was able to enjoy some peace and quiet with a good book while relaxing in the sun)

Garry joined with us at our workshop and the extra muscle he provided was really appreciated when it came time to relocate one of our storage sheds. Many hands made light work of it. We lifted the shed up and shuffled across to a new location.

Another visitor (and now a member) was able to get quite a few tips on silver work from Garry. He even bought along his silver-smithing gear for a holiday. Next time the faceting machine.

The annual "Rockarama Crystal and Craft fair" is held with the South Australian Metal Detecting Championship on the 1st weekend in May. A fantastic event and well worth a visit. Have a look at the Murraylands Gem and Mineral Club's web-site for further information.

I hope Mr and Mrs Bucket enjoy the rest of their time in S.A. and we look forward to seeing them back here some time soon.
