Trip in Early March.
« on: January 20, 2017, 04:27:46 PM »
We finalised our week up to Inverell. Going to Tingha Sands first, staying in park nearby for 2 nights.  Next was Billabong Blue for  2 nights, then on to Deepwater for another 2 nights, fossicking at Torrington. But I have since read they were thinking of closing this area down to fossickers, is this true, or are they still at the thinking stage??? I hope it isn't closing, as it suits our travelling plan to a T
Jan.

No change to Torrington as far as I am aware.

They were doing some consultation re access to these types of areas but pretty sure nothing changed so far.

cheers

Possibly best, to be sure, to check at the information centre?? I would like to finalise the arrangements before we leave Home.

Thanks Gemster,
That particular part of our trip, I was really looking forward to. Hope we can find some goodies too.
And yes, too many are closing due to those few who can't take direction.

Yes Ausdigfam it is a special place Torrington... There are quite a few of us that feel that they(NPWS) need to keep things as they are...  :)
Watch out for Old Mine Shafts right through Torrington Area... They are Everywhere..  :o

Tingha is also a good place... The Caravan Park there has some helpful info on where to Dig  ;).....
Have Fun and looking forward to some Pics...

Will Definately keep eyes peeled, don't want to end up down a mine shaft. And we will be staying at the CP in Tingha, so good to know the country folk are willing to help us newbie fossickers.
Thanks for the tips Gemster!!!
