14 inch auto feed slab saw for sale
« on: April 24, 2017, 09:10:51 PM »
A good friend of mine is looking at selling his 14 inch auto feed lapidary slab saw and asked if i would post it up here.
Comes with blades, belts, motor, stand, 12 volt fuel pump for cleanouts, i believe diesel for cutting(if wanted), chain for vice (for cutting geodes or other rounds) and many spare parts. The saw is in great condition and has been meticulously looked after.
He is asking $3000 and it would be pick up from Dapto NSW, for any additional info or photos please contact me via PM or email.

Hi Shivan,

I have one of these Agatemaster saws and I am chasing a copy of the user Manual or other associated documentation.  Does you friend have any documentation for the saw?

In the photographs I note that there is a protective cover missing from over the feed drive screw on the front of the saw.

G'day Bruce,
This saw is not an agatemaster as far as i know, but i believe was built from the agatemaster design with some improvements.

My mate has been chasing an agatemaster owners manual for a few years now, but has had no luck. I have had a bit of a hunt but also came up empty handed. They seems to be rarer than the saws.

The owner of the saw leaves the cover off intentionally so he can see how everything is working when under load and adjust as needed.
Can't see slipping with a cover on.

G'day Shivan,

Thank you for the prompt reply.
The manufacturer's ID is on the face of the cover that has been removed.  The machine is almost identical to mine except for some homebrew modifications.  There are also two conical pieces missing from the threaded vice pillars.  These seat in the holes of the vice top plate and prevent it from moving when the saw is operating.  You will notice that there are several mm of tolerance between the pillar and the internal surface of the holes in the vice top plate.
The cover is there for a good reason and I am sure that the worm feed drive and gear would love testicles, loose clothing or pinkies.
OK on the manual and I am having the same difficulty in obtaining documentation.

Kind regards,

Bruce

G'day Bruce,
I can only tell you what was told to me about the saw.
I believe most of the running gear and vice set up are either from an agate master or copied from them. It may be an agate master rebuild perhaps?
I believe there are another two of these machines available up in QLD, but i do not know details, but that is where this came from.

I have not seen an agate master 14" myself, but i do have the 12", there are a lot of differences between the 12" and the saw pictured above, though the running principles are the same. The angled sump being the biggest difference.

These differences may have very well been features in the agate master 14", but again i do not know enough about it myself.
I can attest to how well the saw cuts, and how well it has been looked after, but did not want to call it an agate master if it was not.

If any new leads pop up on the manual i will let you know.

Check costs , a Brand New one of a Different Brand Lortone is $2800 from us with 12 months warranty and a Brand New 303 Blade costing $385.
It may be a great deal but inspect and consider options

I am in the market for another saw 14 inch . Should i buy a cheaper version or up grade to a Highland park machine .  I see they have made inroads into design and build quality and sell well in the USA .
