Hi Picko,

Yes Findem's stuff is good but also just put 'Barraba' and 'Bingara' in the search box here to bring up l lots of good older threads where people have discussed it in the past.

If you are staying at the caravan park the owners / managers are usually full of knowledge and / or can point you in the right direction too.

Hi guys. We ended up going to torringron. Foud a nice topaz crystal and 3 emeralds. Lots of quarts and flurite. One of the young fellas found a nice amathest crystal in the camping area. I think this area is not known for amathest so im guessing it was dropped or planted. Was the only one found..
All in all a good haul great week camping and a beautiful spot.
Cheers
Alex

Did you camp at Blatherarm or in the township?

Do you mind me asking where the emeralds little emeralds from the old emerald mine?  Topaz?

Still feeling my way around up at Torrington so always curious!  ;D

MrSydney, I don't think any Emeralds came out of that mine... Beryl yes...This is what I have been told what happened by Ron from the Museum.... The Emeralds were found on what was the old road.. Story goes, A trail bike rider came off his bike and the handlebars tore up the emeralds, So they got a lease and put in the mine and found No more Emeralds.. They were found on the Dumped dirt from the road... They made a boo boo and put these piles outside their lease area... that's why they couldn't stop the Fossickers... All bulldozed flat now...
They believe during the Eruptions of the area(millions of years ago) a molten blob of emerald was blown out and Landed/splattered on the spot that became the Road.... The Mining Museum has some of these Emeralds, but im pretty sure they Didn't come out of the Actual Mine.... We are talking about the Bulldozed one here aren't we?
Emeralds did come out of de Milhous Lode/Mine on Steve's property tho... His Property has the Emmaville Geological Centre on Gulf Rd...

Mr Sydney Lord Thunda or myself could show you a fair chunk of Torrington.  As could a few others.  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

LOL!  Depending on what we've found we may find ourselves down an old mine shaft instead!
