Moranbah "diamonds" are actually quartz.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

I sometimes have trouble telling the difference between Topaz and Quartz when I've got the things in my hand  ::)

So do you find those in the creeks up there or only in very select locations?

Just curious as my sister works in the mine up there so would like to let her know.

Cheers

Where these ones came from is now under overburden if the lapidary club is still running they would be able to help your sister I dont think they are easy to find anymore.

From the picture I would have put them in the Topaz pile. Topaz have 4 sided crystals and Qz 6 sided but these are pretty worn.
Apparently Topaz feels cold in the hand.

Yep Topaz is cold and has a sort of waxy feel to it, another give away if you have a 365nm UV, a lot of Topaz glows orange/yellow
