The Millenium Diamond Heist
« on: May 06, 2018, 04:14:47 PM »
This is old news and I am sure many of you are familiar with the story from the year 2000 but it is far enough back that there may be a number of members unfamiliar with this. Last night I watched a 46 minute video, now available on Youtube. and  a really great reconstruction using original video footage as well covering this incident in a gripping way.

The target was the Millenium Star, regarded as the perfect diamond worth 200 mill pounds and other diamonds for a total value of 350 million pounds. There are several dramatic moments prior to the big heist and a final twist that makes for a compelling story. If you have a "smart TV that delivers Youtube it is good resolution and a most enjoyable treatment. Otherwise watch it on your laptop.

This certainly was an interesting case!
Does raise the question of why the police let a known armed criminal gang run around for five months.
Under the UK 1997 Firearms Act section 5 carries a heaver sentence than what they received.
