Gemmasta GF4 service/alignment
« on: September 17, 2018, 10:41:49 PM »
hi all, I am just getting back into using my facet machine after a short break (2-3yrs)

I am certain my machine has an alignment issue. Is there anyone in or near Melbourne you would recommend to help or do this work? Not sure I have the tools to do it myself

Thanks
Troy

Have a go at trying Graham Young from the Victorian Facetors Group. He does have a very good set up at home. Good chance he'll be able to check out your machine and fix it. I'll try and find his personal contact details and pm you.

Cheers Mario.

Somewhere on here should be the Antony Fitzgeralds Gemmasta tuning pdf. I'll see if I can find it.

Here it is,

Troy,

Might also be worth checking your dops to make sure they are not bent first.
I even have bent dops I purchased new from Gemmasta.

I second that.

If the machine is second hand check the dops for over zealous tightening of the grub screw, this can physically bend the dop but also push up a lump of metal around the pit it creates. The easiest way to check is just roll them on a flat surface looking for light underneath as you roll. Those cheap marble cheese boards are an ideal flat surface.

Thanks Makky and Rusted. I followed the linked instructions over this weekend and managed to correct a spiral in the single head.

I am cutting a test stone now and it is cutting up nicely

Thanks again
