Makky Brown, the Melbourne Museum at 11 Nicholson Street has a really great geological section with superb specimens. Well worth a visit if you are anywhere near there and have some hours to wait.

Gee I wish I ready your comment before turning off my laptop, it was a very long day. Got home at 12.30am ;(  Went to Screen World which was a bit of fun.

Did anyone go on the Bullock Mountain trip?  Curious if much was found and whether it was in the creek or they set up an area?

yeah wife and i went , you could pretty well go where ever you wanted too . we never stayed very long just till lunch time not a lot was found that i saw but we left early .  we found a fair few small ones  but nothing of any size . having said that i would go back there again now i have seen the layout and had a better look on google earth and i think i no know where i would go for a second look if i went back in there.would not want to go in after a good fall of rain though it would need time to dry out you could see on some of the tracks where it would be very boggy in the wet.

Thanks!

Yes I just spent a few days at 3 waters just up the creek a bit.  The creek had very little in it in general but got lucky with a few pieces in just one spot and one after managing to shift a larger boulder such we could get at a little bit of gravel trapped between it and another stone (found one good size piece but unfortunately it was quite cracked assumedly from weight / movement over time).

Didn't dig so much where the Gemorama field trip was as it was harder going / wasn't quite sure where to start and felt I'd explore the creek gravels up and down first (always more fun).  Was just curious how people had fared at Bullock Mountain as loved staying in the area with the kids so thought it might be worth trying there.
