Question on polishing Opal

Hi, Is polishing Opal any risk to lungs etc??? or does the water keep the dust down?

All stone dust can be hazardous including opal. But if you are using a trickle on your cutting wheels then you ought not have dust.

It appalls me to see tradesmen cutting stones setting paving in street footpaths etc and working without protective gear in clouds of dust. Wearing a mask may not be comfortable but better than a shorter life and the latter part in pain from lung disease.
