Mega Identification Thread
« on: October 09, 2018, 08:37:45 AM »
Hi all,

Please forgive me for being such a newbie!

Please refer to this thread for context on why I'm posting this.

Below is a small selection of the collection.  If anybody could help with identification, and/or give me a heads up if there's anything of any sort of value, I'd be VERY appreciative!

1.  Ok so I know what these are - but just wondering if they are worth anything?

All I am seeing is a slab of weather beaten wood, I suggest you go and edit your images down to a smaller size so we can see the full image, not just the left hand edge.

1st pic - Amethyst
7th/12th/13th pic - black tourmaline in quartz
16th pic - black/grey potch opal from lightning ridge area
18th pic - Either a piece of boulder opal or more likely untreated fairy opal from QLD

As the guys mentioned, if you can shrink the photos a bit so that we can see all of he pic then we might be able to help with the rest  :)

Right click each enlarged photo with mouse and click 'open image in a new tab'.  Open new tab (top of page) and should be normal size.  Worked OK for me that way.

Sorry Nwnsw, not much value in that lot. Maybe $50 for the first two amethyst specimens, but imo that's it.

Agree that the amethyst has value.   :)
The rock crystal shop in Glen might be interested in a few pieces  beers

The Amethyst appears to have potential, perhaps pop into a gem club as well. There might be someone there might make you a reasonable offer.  Occasionally at my club, we get someone that visits and tries to sell the rocks they'd acquired in similar circumstances as yourself Nwnsw. Good luck!
Cheers
