Monster Blue Topaz
« on: April 10, 2019, 04:05:58 PM »
Hi all,
Have the chance to buy this blue topaz from Innot Hot Springs Mt Gibson collected in the 60s.
Weighs 1123 grams and measures approx 10 cm x 10cm x 12 cm.
Photos in the Gallery.
Any guesses what its worth?

The only silly questions are those not asked.
So here's not a silly question.

In a post like the one above, how do I get to look at the picture?

Thanks in anticipation,
Ghost

Hi Ghost,
I viewed it by clicking on the Gallery button, then on Recent Items on the drop down menu.
Cheers,
colza
I dig it.

That's a monster, bigger than the one stolen from Mt Surprise. Is it cloudy or fairly clean?A stone that big can command a big premium due to being so rare.

A lovely big topaz.
Are your confident with the origin of the stone.

Certainly looks like an NQ big blue.
2 visible crystal sides adds to the value.

"Big Blue" weighed a mere 3700 cts not like that 5600 monster. It's 'estimated' value of more than $35,000.

This water clear tiddler of 510 cts is going cheap for $1800

When I was on Flinders Island last, they lady selling topaz in a shop had a 3300ct blue on display. Was a bit cloudy, she said she had turned down an offer of $20k for it.
