Fossicking from Rubyvale
« on: June 17, 2019, 01:44:31 PM »
Hi Folks,

I am heading out to Rubyvale in about a month with my parents and I'm looking for suggestions on where would be the best place to go for a few days of digging.

We are absolute amateurs... When we were kids my parents used to take me and my brothers out to Rubyvale every year and we used to go on the fossicking tours.

Now 20 years later we have decided to make it an annual trip again. We went last year on a guided tour and did a few of the tourist gigs with the sacks of wash, mostly as it was a last minute decision and we didnt have much time.

This time we have a couple of days to spend out in the fields and would like to try do it for ourselves. We are not out to strike it rich it is more about family time. Obviously my parents are not the so young anymore so i dont want to be digging 2m deep holes through stone, somewhere maybe with shallow wash that might have a chance of digging up some colours.

Any suggestion where to start would be greatly appreciated.  ;D ;D ;D

Thank you
