Problems with new 220 Galaxy wheel
« on: August 08, 2019, 08:00:14 AM »
I have a problem with my new 220 Galaxy wheel. It is very abrassive and leaves scratches that you can not get out by the finer grids.
Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

Thanks in advanced
Olaf

Hi Olaf,
Have you used the wheel much?
I'm thinking it might bed in if you use it a bit more. Maybe shape a stone with it instead of your coarser wheel and see if that helps.

I just bought a 1200 and 3000 lap for faceting. They are cutting a lot coarser than I thought they would, but I'm sure it's just a bedding in period.

PS. Hey MakkyBrown, just starting on the Butterfly out of your book, maybe to much for a beginner? I'll never know if I don't try hey!

Cheers Prooz.

Hi Prooz,
It not as hard to cut as it looks. But I'd not cut it in a small stone or it will be a bit hard to see details. The front cover of the book makes it huge and it's like using a hand lens to look at it.
I been working on the butterfly for quite awhile, and was only thinking about it yesterday. I was thinking of potentially concave cutting facet tiers 10-14.
