Replacement stones for ring
« on: July 15, 2019, 08:25:30 PM »
I have a relative who lives on the Sunshine Coast Qld who would like to contact some one who could supply/ facet 3 replacement “red stones” for a ring. Does anyone have a contact who may be interested or information about where she should go?
Thanks,
Gerda

Hi Gerda.
Try a Google search for local Lapidary Clubs.
Cheers.

Hi Gerda. An option to look out for, is when you do find the local lapidary clubs. Is to ask them about their club show and if they have vendors who attend and specifically have cut stones for sale.  I'm not sure about up your way, but here in Vic. I often see traders who include them as one of the many items that they selling. So perhaps the same type of vendors would be seen there too.   This might be a cheaper option if their selling stones that have been cut overseas.
Cheers

I'm with you Malachi..they sound like they're on the tiny side of things so probably not the size most would jump at doing...and way cheaper just to buy the ready cut if that's the case.
Keep em comin!!!

Thank you to everyone.  I will hand on your advice. I haven't seen the ring but was contacted because the family know I am a keen fossicker and rock polisher but I know nothing about jewellery and stone sizing to fit into a setting. I understand the ring is an antique, bought at a market in Europe just because they liked it, but the owners are unsure what the “red Stones” are.
Thanks again,
Gerda
