Scrubbing brush and warm water and dish washing liquid works better.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Coke contains Phosphoric acid, so will clean some stains off some rocks.
Calcite deposits, vinegar will do, or Hydrochloric acid. (Bunnings)
Oxalic acid for rust stains, Diggers Rust and stain remover is 100% Oxalic acid also from Bunnings.
Organic stains and Tannin might need a soak in some White King type bleach.
Careful with all of these, Hydrochloric will dissolve skin and eyes, Oxalic will ruin your kidneys,  beware of fumes and use outside with rubber gloves and appropriate safety gear.

My hubby was soaking some quartz matrix in coke the other day. I lean toward baking soda and vinegar myself, I guess the outcome will tell the tale lol.

You can get stronger Phosphoric acid at Supercheap and possibly other petrol head type shops, Septone Rust converter is Phosphoric acid.
Some people prefer the "organic" method and boil their rocks in lemon juice, it would smell better than some of the others anyway.
