NSW Forests and fires
« on: December 11, 2019, 04:16:17 PM »
Many forests closed at the moment and possibly foreseeable future. Some fossickers have ignored this, particularly around Ewingar. Forestry have ordered people out and heard one was apprehended the other day for ignoring the forest bans. Tingha and Torrington SCA closed until end of march  2020. Those who choose to ignore will be prosecuted if caught and  are endangering the future of our hobby.  Please check out NSW State forests for closures and NSW National parks who control Tinga and Torrington .
Just a heads up, as I'm sure most are aware of this.
regards Fossicker

Sadly there are always a foolish or ignorant few.

See for State forest closures  https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visit/closures
See for national parks   https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/alerts/alerts-list

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Thanks for posting this. Honestly, I wouldn’t have thought to check those websites. It would suck to drive many hours only to see a “closed” sign, but I understand why they might need to close the forests. I need to re-think my Xmas holiday adventures...

I also hope the New England area got a bit of that rain system yesterday.

Every Monday Sue and I head down to Katoomba. All the walking tracks are closed. Boo hoo.

As an ex-fiery I can tell you that all the fires are still listed as active and will remain so until it rains. Many are listed as contained which means they have a firebreak around them but possibly active fire inside. One hot day with high wind and they could take off again.
