Hello from Las Vegas USA
« on: February 01, 2020, 04:57:58 AM »
So, what is a guy from Las Vegas doing registering on an Aussie site?

I'm a retired engineer who has been faceting for three years.  I'm an IGS member and belong to the US Faceters Guild.  I'm here because so many great faceters come from Australia, and am a big fan of Cliff's videos on the "Vintage Time" YouTube channel.

My wife, Dana, makes/sells jewelry and I often cut pieces for her projects.  I have a Polymetric machine and have a new Ultra Tec VL machine on order... Delivery date is Feb 8th.

Hi Lowjiber,

Welcome to the forum.   Lots of interesting people and topics here.   Even some facetors.
Have lots of fun, and may all your facets meet.
Regards, Ghost.

Glad to see another facetor here now Lowjiber. Do you have a favourite stone for faceting?
Common sense isn't exactly common

I think my favorite is Oregon Sunstone.  The "common" variety is clear and champagne colored, but once in a while one can find a piece with just a tiny internal touch of red or blue-green.  By orienting the cut to put the color as low in the pavilion as possible, the entire stone just comes alive with color.  Those really catch the buyer's eye.
