Mud Maps?
« on: January 10, 2009, 08:55:58 PM »
If anyone has any mud maps for gemstone deposits in Central QLD, I would be interested in seeing them.

Not the Anakie area one, but other areas close to Rockhampton.

Hi,
The only areas I know around there are Mt Hay ("Thunder Eggs"), Marlborough (Chrysoprase) and Springsure (south of Emerald - Labradorite & Opalised Wood).
If you want any more info about any of these, let me know and I'll post it.
Regards, Paul

Thanks for that Paul,

I once heard there was a deposit of Topaz somewhere within an hour or 2 of here, but not sure which direction as the one that told me has zipped lips and understandably so I would say.

Take Care

Hi,
I've heard of Topaz down south (around Stanthorpe) and up north (Mt Surprise/Mt Gibson) but nothing really in between.  Let us know if you find out anything more - I'm always interested in finding a new diggin spot :D
Regards, Paul

Maybe its time I called my old mate for a have-a-chat  ;) I know one thing he reckons there is absolutely hundreds of kilos of the stuff there and a gemmologist has inspected it and said it was the best topaz he had seen from Australia.

But then again it could also be like a tall fishing story.
