From Dot and Dave who own the Agate Creek Camp Ground and Old Robin Hood Station, so nearest camping would be Cobold Gorge as not allowed on the fossicking area

We wish to advise ‘Agate Creek Camping Ground’ will be closed as of the 30th March due to the severe health issues currently facing our Country.
We thank-you for your understanding & look forward to seeing you again in 2021

If Gemorama is not cancelled I'll be there unless they cancel the border lockdown with Qld then I may venture part of the way into the wilds

Currently, there's a surprising large amount of visitors driving around up here.
What their finding is most destinations are shut down, local shops have limited stock and have purchase restrictions in place.
My suggestion is set the camper up in your local town and do the whole back yard tourist thing.
Then of course next year go dig a hole twice as big.

Same happening everywhere. All Tasmanian national parks and reserves shut and government is telling all visitors to leave the state by Sunday night.

Closed area: All parks and reserves closedFrom 26/3/2020, last reviewed 26/3/2020
Following advice from the Tasmania Department of Health and Tasmanian Government that our community should limit unnecessary travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the PWS has closed all national parks, reserves and campgrounds until further notice.
The PWS is calling on Tasmanian’s to support the national effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay home during this time.
From midnight Thursday 26 March, PWS is temporarily closing all national parks, reserves, campgrounds and facilities to recreational and tourism use. This means that all day walks, mountain biking, fishing and tours will not be permitted.  Washrooms, day use facilities, showers and visitor centres are closed until further notice.

Encouraging ants to social distance.  Found them in some small bags of agates I had in the shed.

Relocated agates to trays outside.

Waiting for the rain to make them clean then sorting time.   :)
Shall be by colour at the start.  Other variations as year goes by.

Hope I do not go stir crazy

Simon got the initial post wrong as travel will be within 250 km for the region so unless you are real local it is still a no go.
See correction below. Also booking will be essential and limited to 20 people at start.

Woopsi
Looks like I jumped the gun with regard to the 250 km radius from campground, The ruling is 250km within the region, The campground is classed as the outback region so this means no one from the coast and only people from either Etheridge,Flinders or Croydon shires if you are traveling up to 250km please see Covid 19 outback map areas
Sorry for the stuff up
 Cheers Simon

Yet more confusing word speak from the Qld Gov.
250Klm travel within your region (Surprise is in the Cairns and hinterland region.)
But now we can't move between shires?

Looks like Agate Creek Campground may be reopening (subject to further advice) from the 11th of July 2020.
Dave and Dot recommend checking with them before heading out (via facebook)

If they do reopen after 11 July there may be a number of conditions.  With O'Briens Ck camp ground they have to book ahead so the camp ground is not too crowded and only so many campers can be allowed.  Probably the same state rules will apply at Agate Ck

Things hopefully will change but this year it will be too late for me to go to Qld even if the border reopens.

Will try again in 2021.  :)
