Facet design wanted
« on: May 15, 2020, 12:20:24 PM »
I am looking for a specific faceting design. In explanation, a very close family member suffered Leukemia some years ago - the treatment was so severe we got called 3 times to say last goodbyes but she fought through - during her worst moments of chemo one of the nurses gave her a toy elephant and from then on elephants became her good luck symbol - everywhere we go, if there is an elephant statue or token we get it for her - just today she has been told she now has breast cancer and will have to go through both radiation and extreme chemo treatment, probably as bad as what she last went through - here is where I come in - I would like to cut her a special stone to help her through so if anyone has a design which holds an Elephant (similar to the Spider design)I would be most appreciative TIA

Hi Moth.

There was a Cancer Ribbon design in the Facetors Guild magazine, Facet Talk, a couple of years ago.

Ate you looking for it?
Yours Sincerely

Hi Moth, I'll see if i can make you a design tomorrow. No guarantee as it will probably be a bit tricky, but I will try.
CheersMB

Thanks very much - she is at a pretty low ebb at the moment so anything at all will help - I have a nice blue topaz around 15ct I am thinking of using.

Hi Moth, I've made a design. Frosted crown, rendering is for topaz. I've backed of the brilliance so it doesn't over whelm the crown frosting. This will not be that easy to cut. i haven't yet to sequence. Depending how high you want the crown there will be three tiers of two facets each at around 5 degrees. If your keen I'll try and sequence.
CheersMB :)

Hmm, being quite a pain to sequence. Ran out of meetpoints and drawing more in is not going so well. I might have another go tomorrow. How experienced at faceting are you moth? :) I might have to float some tiers.

This might go closer to meeting, let me know if you would like anything changed moth. Then I'll try redrawing in sequence.

Thanks Makky - appreciate all your efforts, I am reasonably experienced, albeit don't usually cut the super complicated designs but willing to have a go at this but is there some way the trunk can be shortened (trunk down is bad karma apparently) above the level of the tusks?
