good luck with your January trip - it is much nicer here in summer than Queensland although I'll admit it gets too cold for fossicking in winter.  I'm sure you'll have a great time.

have fun and thanks for joining the forum - we're only brand new but I think this will become a great place for all gem lovers.

cheers

Make sure you stop off at the Tourist Center when you're here in Glen and ask them for some good places to fossick.

thank you for the welcome

Have had some good rain and quite a bit more predicted for tomorrow.  With a bit of luck, we'll get a good fresh in all the creeks and it might turn a few new rocks over.

cheers

Hi All,
I will be heading for Copeton tomorrow, might need a boat to get past Gunnedah  ???, will decide at Gulgong tomorrow whether to try Tamworth to Inverell rather than Gunnedah to Bingara. Any local advise would be appreciated. ::)

Gday Ted,

It is not flooding wet up here at Glen yet but the Tamworth area is a mess.  I would definitely check before heading off tomorrow.

Has been light rain here all morning and the Reddestone is running very full - I imagine both the eastern side and Inverell areas are similar.  Havent heard of any flooding here but down in Tamworth, they are concerned about floodwaters in the Peel, Coburn and Parry rivers heading downstream.

cheers

I think the title of this thread has become a bit misleading - it is WET!!!

Just a quick update to my last message although I think Ted has just dropped offline - you can check this link for road closures:

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/trafficreports/regionalnewsouthwales/northern.html

As of 10am this morning (Saturday), road from Tamworth to Gunneday was open with caution but water is over the road at Carroll.  More rain through the day might cause further problems so definitely check before heading up north.

Forecast is for storms with not much showing on the radar but we have had continuous light rain all morning here - is keeping everything very wet.

cheers

Thanks Leah,
Have checked out that road website now  :), thinking Tamworth might be OK by Sun afternoon, but not so further down stream. Its has become harder to find relevant info because of the reems(screens) of out of date rubbish clogging the net  >:(.Can always stop at the Gulgong pub.

Misleading indeed !

I think the creeks are nicely flushed now .... and so it's time to turn off the taps :D

I'll keep on eye on the weather & make a final decision on Monday before heading off.  Not much point heading up there if access is going to be a major problem.

I can't really complain though ..... the weather on my previous trips has been excellent.

Regards, Paul
