Unusual piece of sapphire
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:39:41 AM »
This piece turned up in the jigs a while back - did a short post on the blog but it is an unusual piece of sapphire so thought it worth taking another look.

A small, flat piece of sapphire with three distinct colour zones - blue, yellowish/clear and orangy-red.

As this photo shows, it is really a bit too flat to do anything with but good to keep in the collection as one of the more unusual sapphires we have mined over the years.

cheers Leah

That is a beautiful stone, perhaps you could get it polished and have it set as is in a pendant with a gold rim like a bezel set right around. I think that would look totally awesome and very unique.
And when I make my first million I will purchase it  ;)
Ron and I have an Appointment to do some Laps ;) ;D
