Scorpion
« on: September 05, 2023, 09:18:20 PM »
This design was made to meet a request and will be publish in Volume 6 of my books. It was a bit tricky to design and caused me some head scratching on how to tackle it. Needed some tweaking/slight redesign while I cut it but I am now happy with the cutting sequence. It largely meetpoints, has 133 facets and used a SRB pavilion. I've taken lots of pics with my phone and will be adding a slide show shortly of the stone being cut.
Pretty happy with it, enjoy 🔥🔥

Looks great MB, I'm not a fan of those type of designs but appreciate how much work you must have put into it.

I didn't really see the point of them myself until I did one and realised you do it for no good reason, just to have a bit of fun, Andrew's Elephant design was torture though, I'm still bloody proud of it.

Love it!
It's interesting comparing the bottom-frosted (pavilion) designs with the top (crown) frosted designs. Really happy with my "Butterfly Effect" cut, and will definitely try it again.

Both crown and pavilion frosting works well if you design to match it. Crown frosting can be over powered by high light return.
With pavilion frosting, nice results can be gain by frosting illuminated areas bordering extinction.  With the scorpion Ive cut in material with a fairly high colour saturation, this helps make the frosted scorpion noticeable. The frosted designs in my books have been well received, many facetors are just after something different to cut.
CheersMB
