Just remember that not everyone is on facebook - it is useful but dont cut out or annoy potential visitors by assuming everyone is there - it is not the case.  It is just a quick copy/paste to add the info on to this thread and other sites on the internet to spread the word far and wide.

Thanks Leah  I will be emailing as many lapidary clubs as I can in my lists so the word gets out there. Did I give you enough brochures? If not I can get them in to you to send out with any orders you get if that is possible.

All good but remember, sites like ALF perform pretty well on google search while sites where you have to login (such as facebook) wont bring up those kinds of results from a search so while I totally support publicising this kind of event on Facebook you need to do the other stuff as well to get maximum exposure.

Emailing clubs is fine (and necessary) - but remember some committee members will efficiently pass on the info to their members and others just wont bother so again, your potential visitors are not necessarily going to get the info even if you have gone to the trouble of emailing clubs.

Dont have any brochures at all - no one has given any to us.  Happy to send them out with parcels but cant do it if we dont have them.

BREAKING NEWS!!!The Field Trips have been organised.Sat 3rd Oct - The FLUORITE MINE - Wonderful opportunity to visit this place last visited 8 yrs ago. Look for fluorite, quartz crystals, citrine, copper, etcSun 4th Oct - The SAPPHIRE MINE - Same site we went to last year. There has been some work done there to make it easier to find sapphires & zircons by grading the area.Mon 5th Oct - MYSTERY TOUR - Local site not far from town as it will be a half day tour to enable people to head home just after lunchtime.

This is the news I have been waiting to hear about. Dont forget, just 6 weeks to go!

sadly the wedding is not the only thing that cropped up for that week end and I do not want to sleep in the doghouse.

With any luck we will be able to access more spots as well as keeping this for Gemfest. I'm just running the FB site & getting the word out there. I am looking forward to going there again as the word I got was that there is plenty to find. Last time I went my backpack was full of rocks

Myself and the earthmover are hoping to go to this gemfest, Lord Thunda. This will be our first so was just wondering if you have to sign up for the tagalongs in advance?

Hi Blackbird,
You just need to meet at the Court House & pay for trips there. There will be lots of vehicles there & plenty of people to give you a hand on what to look for out there. Could virtually be any of the 26 different minerals we have in the area.
