There's plenty of nice jasper and some agate there in the river gravels.

also petrified wood :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Depends on what you want to carry.  Fist size to head size rocks and mostly rounded.

Our club went there near the end of last year and did well.  If you cross the river on the gravels take care as the rocks can be very slippery and water fast and deep in places.

Hi Tom,
Here's a (very) old map mud that will help you get started.  I found it quite useful.

Hi everyone! I've been away for a little while and am just catching up now.
As I remember Kangaroo Valley (lived in Nowra 1963-67 where I wrote my "Geology of the Shoalhaven District" which still seems to be useful), there are quartz gems to be found in every creek draining off the Cambewarra Range and northwards. The real problem is access. I found some great jasper specimens in Bomaderry Creek on the eastern side of the range and big lumps of silicified wood at Woodhill Gap. Bugong Creek in the southwest was also pretty good but hard to get at in those days.
