This month's "Gem of the Month" is .... Peridot.  

Feel free to add more info & pics.  If anyone has any questions specifically about Peridot then this is a good place to post them.

Fossicking Locations:

Peridot is gem quality Olivine. Olivine is quite common, however, Peridot is quite scarce. There are two main locations in Australia for collecting Peridot.

QLD - Chudleigh Park (Cheviot Hills)

Chudleigh Park is a property in Far-North Queensland.  The property has changed hands in recent years and access needs to be confirmed before visiting.

Vic - Mt Shadwell (Mortlake)

Olivine "bombs" can be found at Mt Shadwell Quarry.  Inside these bombs you can occasionally find pieces of Peridot large enough to facet.

 Hi Diddums,
     Reckon Muddy has some trouble parting with her gems , thus this one is still to be set in as gift for her daughter. In hand though I believe.
