Check out your local lapidary clubs.   Many of them have club saws for members to use.   If not, a club member may be able to help you.

Welcome to ALF Lazychops.   I am sure you will have lots of fun and satisfaction in this hobby.

Regards,   Ghost

Welcome to the forum Lazychops,
Sorry I can't help you with the cutting at the moment. If you don't find anyone I can probably help with some later in the year after I make my move north to the warmer climate.  I likely won't be set up until around the end of October but feel free to contact me after that if you are still looking.  :)

Just a thought... you can visit your local club/s when they are open and talk with the members.  You just might find someone interested.

Good luck... and enjoy.
 ;D

Mr Crocket, Are you moving North :D.... Hope you have your Passport... We don't just let Anyone in you know.. ;)
Lazychops, Welcome to the Forum, I have a saw here but it will only cut 30mm... Not deep enough for Thundereggs.

I will ask on the weekend when I see a mate with a bigger saw and see what he can do ...

I would help out, but am a bit far south.

It may be worth asking your local club if someone would be willing to cut a few for you, especially if you don't mind mind trading a half or two for their effort.
One thing to keep in mind though, there can be costs associated with using the saws at clubs. I think ours is like 20c per square inch.

I certainly hope to be Gemster... if all goes well I will be in the greater Hervey Bay area and this will be my new shed!  A bit more room than I have at the moment.

Hi Lazychops.

I'm a member of Waterloo Bay Lapidary Club.  We are a small club meeting at Hemmant near the port of Brisbane.

Len our President watches over "his" saws like a hawk.   ;)  Not really true.  He makes sure members know what they are doing before letting them loose.

More often than not he is actively involved in setting up and monitoring the big saw.  If you pop down on a Monday night between 7 and 8 pm  we can have a chat about what we can do.

I am not sure if you need to join or if the club can reach another arrangement.

Our Gemshow is on the last Saturday in August if you don't drop in before hand you could have a chat at the Show.

One of our members, Bruno, sells slab.  He'll be at the show so you could strike up a conversation and see if he would be interested.  I don't  know, but no harm in asking.

Pm me for address details.

Yours sincerely

Gemster

Are you retiring to the bay?  I was there as a kid in the 1970s.  WAS good fishing there then.

Looks like you will have ample room for a boat for deep sea fossicking /pearl diving (plenty of oysters on the Woodies and Picnic Islands) :) and your lapidary gear.
