Glueing Dops for slabbing

What's good for gluing rock to wood for slabbing? Is liquid nails construction glue type of thing any good? A lot seem to say Sodium Silicate but that sounds very old fashioned. Is it or is it the best?

I don't do it but from reading various other lapidary forums just plain old white PVA wood glue is the stuff. Glue, then when the glue is set cut your slab and then throw everything  in a bucket of water for several days to soften the glue.
Don't use the outdoor PVA glue its designed not to soften when wet.

I have often used PVA very successfully. I usually cut the wood away from the stone after I have finished slabbing just leaving a thin veneer of wood on the stone. This makes it easier to remove after soaking. Other club members have used liquid nails. Either way just make sure the glue has cured well before commencing slabbing.
