I have two of Andrews books, vol 1 and 2. Can't recall which stones I've cut from them. Have two stones on dops at the moment and when they are cut all my time will be spent on my new faceting head assy.

Looking forward to seeing your new faceting head evolve. Be sure to start a thread and document the whole process!
I need to track down a copy of Book 6 this week myself! I have a labradorite dopped cutting 'Stargazing' from Book 1 at the moment. Worked well in smoky in the past, but I have encountered an inclusion in the wrong place cutting the pavilion.

A combination of man (or woman), machine and time I guess!

It helps if you do know what the precise angles are, but I’ve only ever had a close idea. Prior to using a bevel box shown here, I used a protractor and needle fitted on my machine. Probably barely getting better than within 0.5deg. After getting the main facets cut, the rest are cut to fit. Adjusting the mast height to get the meet points right.

U a bit grumpy today swirly? ;) Be great to keep on topic on this thread. I'll note if any forum members are interested in my books please contact me for a discount.
Only one way to cure the forums boredom and that is posting content, newbie asking questions, pics of your latest or old projects etc.
CheersMB
