I recently purchased a stereo microscope to better study gem stones. I have ordered a packet of stones on Etsy but I think they are just mixed and not identified.
I am not looking for quality or to use stones for jewellery. My interest is in a mix natural, synthetic, lab made or even fake for study purposes. In my present situation I am not much able to move around. (located in St Kilda.) I wonder if there are any faceters who might have a bunch of identified stones at an affordable price. I am also interested in boulder opal for cutting and polishing. Most of the prices being asked for opal rough on line seem ridiculously high.
