for hard ground, you want a Callandar Slidehammer - http://www.slidehammers.com

I've been eying off one of these for a year or so, but they're not cheap.  Would be good for Tomahawk Creek or Wellingrove...

Shane

Good questiom Deb. I've actually used one but it wasnt that heavy duty. I'm not sure whether you could smash Blue Hill Quarry rock with it, but it must be easier than using the HD bar and coping the jarring.

Hmmm maybe a silly suggestion, could one use a simple 'fence post driver' ( which is made for two hands ) and a 'standard' crowbar to get the same affect ? couldn't see the price on the slidehammer so not sure how they would compare, but it looks shiny  8) and powerfull.

Anders, had the same thought, then also thought wouldn't a super large automatic/compression centre punch be great.

Wouldt work Anders
The one I used had an internal compression system that allowed it to be used without the interchangeable ends coming off ie it works very similar to a piling rig in that it concentrates the downward force along the axis of the tool. They have been around for a while. The problem is that you wouldnt be able to use it as a crow bar because as soon as it bends, it's broken. I think I'll stick to my heavy bar.
