Some more faceting designs
« on: November 11, 2010, 09:45:03 PM »
Hi,

As if we need any more, but some of these are really amazing.

http://www.gemologyproject.com/wiki/index.php?title=Home

Click on the link to the designs.   On the design page, click on the title for instructions, or picture for picture.

The links on the right of the page also lead to some interesting places.   Try the tourmaline link for some drool.

I think the site is part of the GemologyOnLine forum, and is the result of a design competition they ran.

I really must try some of the design by Marco Voltolini.   He is amazing.

Regards,

Ghost

They're all good huh.  :D
Marco is full of enthusiasm and quite talented. Keep checking back every so often cos he keeps popping new ones up. He has some amazing 80 designs too.
Michiko put some up for newbies, including a 64 or 2, and designs for newbies not wanting to tackle tables first off...cough..cough...  8)
They look great.  ;D
Keep em comin!!!

There are some really interesting cutting designs in the latest edition of Facet Talk - some swirl designs plus some more square shapes (chevron, tudor 1 and 2, scissors and radiant).

Is very cheap to join the facetors guild - the magazine is well worth the modest cost of membership.

Some extremely interesting and I presume challenging designs. Has any one downloaded the actual faceting design to have a go. I would like to know how and give it a go myself. Always looking to challenge myself and learn.

Cheers,
Outear

Hi,
Downloaded lots of designs.
Cut Ventilatore in purple CZ, and Crisantemo in natural citrine.
Both came out beautifully.
Intend doing another Crisantemo in Harts Range Zircon.
These designs are extremely good and some are not all that difficult to cut.
The man's a genius.

Ghost

Michiko's beginner designs are brilliant, the Beginner Blossom, in Oxblood citrine kicks butt, worked great in garnet too  ;D

But the ultimate square for ZING is Marco's Squaretuguese.
Lisa's diamond cushion is quite easy and pretty.

From memory, Marco has not been faceting long, it might be 2 years at most.
Keep em comin!!!
