Title: Rain
Post by: whitedingo001 on January 23, 2013, 09:55:46 AM
While everywhere else is copping bushfires, Mackay just had to be different. The weather mob is tipping between 800mm and 1100mm of rain for us by the end of the weekend. Quack, quack.

That is lot of rain. Our annual average at Glen Innes is 850mm.

Although we have been lucky with rain in last couple of weeks - no fires near luckily.

Hopefully some of the rain can go further south and settle down the fire situation.

Stay dry.

cheers
Leah

Gday Leah, the joys of the tropics. Im hoping it can head far south enough to do somebody who really needs it a bit of good. Or out west. Blueys dam is dry out at reward. Or it was when I saw it over Xmas.

I'm at Moranbah 200km west of Mackay and we have tickets to Celtic Thunder in Townsville tomorrow night. Not looking good for us but I will be so disappointed if we can't get there :'(. We need the rain out here too. Haven't had any for a long time and it has been getting over 40 degrees hotthirsty.
We were out at Divide, Rubyvale last week and the dam out there is getting pretty low as well. Could see smoke from several fires in the distance. One fire was closer to Emerald.

I don't have to worry about getting to Townsville any more. Got an email to say the concert has been cancelled :'(. Concert money will be refunded and motel allowed us to cancel room.

Thats a bonus Sioux. I just got home from a run out to the Beef rd . Hardly any wet going out, but it started at Nebo and was bucketing down near the Retreat hotel on the way home. Hasnt started pouring here yet, just light rain, but looks crappy on the weather sites. Still under a severe weather warning.

I have had 250 mm in the last 5 days. I live in dry country but now my little dam is overflowing and my tanks are full, everything is soggy. Lovely.

I'm back in Cloncurry Qld after recent holidays. It wasn't pleasant going from 24 degrees in NSW north coast on Tuesday to 41 here today.

So I'm waiting for the wet season to start ... it's the only thing that will knock the temperature down. Forecast to be about 40 degrees for the next week.

At least it is not dumping down here like it is on the coast.

Looks like 1 more day of this for us and then it should settle down.

Water still going into the ground at the moment. Don't think it will take much more though.

Thanks RH, it's from a place called amethyst castle in NW Qld. Finding facet quality rough is difficult there but this stone has lovely clear quartz and amethyst zones.

It's too hot to do much today, so just mucking about on the computer.

LOL, that is funny.

Ironically, when it's this hot, I'd rather be at work sitting in a super chilled office.
