Title: Is a lab-created emerald a real emerald?

It depends on if it has the same crystal structure as natural emerald.  Some synthetic material is simply a glass with the same chemical formula as material it seeks to emulate.  Take for example the synthetics created by the Venuli method (flame fusion) or chrsytanite which was melted chrysophrase but with added chemicals. 


But if synthetic emerald is emerald that has been dissolved and recrystalised, it is man made but still real emerald.


But it should not be called "real emerald" as this is likely to confuse consumers and mislead them into thinking it is natural material rather than reconstituted or man made emerald.
