News - week off and website upgrade

Hello all,

Announcing two items of news:

A) we will be away next week at the beach trying to catch some fish.  We did not exactly have a week off at Christmas (were still working and packing parcels) and have not been able to get down to the beach since last Easter so just thought we would take this last week of school holidays.  So Aussie Sapphire will be closed week of 19th to 23rd January - remember Monday 26th is a public holiday so any orders received during this week will be despatched Tuesday 27th.  Phone will be unattended but we are checking email so feel free to send any query via email.

B) we have been working on a website upgrade over the past couple of months and the changeover will happen in the next few days.  So there will be a short period where the website will be down for maintenance while this work happens.

The site will not look too different to most of you but we have done a lot of behind the scenes work to make the site mobile friendly.  We are finding that more and more people are accessing our website from their mobile phone and this upgrade will make it a lot easier for them.  The down time should be minimal - if you notice any glitches at all, please let me know (I have checked the test site over pretty thoroughly but there is always a chance of something weird happening).

Just a quick message to let you all know that the new version of our website is now up and running.

Not really any visible change if accessing from a desktop or laptop computer but slightly different if accessing from a tablet (ipad or the like) or your mobile phone.  I have checked on all of our available devices and all is working well.   We have been receiving orders since the upgrade so we know it is working properly for most but I have had one (1 only) report from a customer who could not get the checkout page to load for him.

If anyone would like to help us out, it would be great if you could just check that it is working for you.  It appears to be a very isolated error which we are trying to pin down but it would help to know if it is happening for others.  If you log in and go through to checkout page - and if necessary, advise if it is NOT loading properly.  Of course, you do not need to go through with an order - we are just checking that everything is working as it should.

Hopefully no one will need to send such a message.  It looks to be working fine from this end and we are very happy that it will now be easier to access from a mobile device.

BTW - the beach at Iluka is really nice.  Despite a few work emails, we are getting lots of rest and relaxation in.  The fish are a bit scarce but the boys are having fun chasing them. Will be back on deck on the weekend.
