610 carat Bomb sapphire
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:05:18 PM »
I found this one a few years back at Rubyvale, specked it in the wall of a dam I think on goanna flats. You can't see through it or I would probably be retired. Mainly black but with a bit of blue

Thanks Blinkey, that sure is a BIG dark piece. Do you plan to do anything with it or just keep it as it is?

I've had it for a while now Jamo and haven't done nothing except I touched one end on a polishing disk but no star so I left it. I may go mad one day and run a saw through it.

Well you could make a huge cab or carve it. Did you see the wombat? Think it was a wombat. From memory Bluey Zarzoff posted it.
Keep em comin!!!

To have a go at carving or cabbing this beauty would be very tempting.

Though how often would you able to say. Hey, check this out, what do you think of my 610 carat sapphire bomb?  WOW!!!

Mother Nature. You just can’t beat her, though sometimes from what I’ve seen. There some very close 2nd”s.

By the way Blinkey Bill what have you decided to do with the bomb?

Blinkeybill, Bombs like that come up great if they are skin polished.

I still have it whole and don't plan on doing anything with it at the moment, its a pretty good dust magnet.
