Hello all,
Always been interested in rocks but didn't get into it until we managed to get the best jobs we have ever had: both retired.
Our interests are: caravanning, grandchildren, beach fishing, lapidary (Wingala Lapidary Club), sailing (Careel18). Have acquired a "camp" at Lightning Ridge and spent the last two winters there. Planning extended fossicking trip into Qld next winter.
I know when a stone is finished: when it is a heap of grit in the grinding wheel splash tray!

G'day, The wife calls me John but most people I know think Grumpy Santa is more accurate.

I live in Brisbane and I'm basicly retired. I like nothing more than digging holes, though if there were sapphires, zircons or topaz in my area I would likely do more gardening. I've been fossicking around the Glen Innes/Inverell area for some years but due to buggered knees, I've been reduced to doing mostly 7 oaks & Billabong Blue type places most recently.

Just bought my first tumbler (Xmas present to myself) hoping to tidy up some of the jars of sapphire bombs that clutters (wifes terminology) the place . I've also got buckets of quatz hanging around so they may also get the treatment. Some are quite large so a home made tumbler might need to be made. I'll be keeping an eye out for ideas.
