Little confused if this is actually an emerald crystal.


should it be giving off a colour when rubbed with acetone?

must be, just tried another piece of emerald and it does the same thing.

Tried the hardness test - with citrine (at least i think it is citrine) they should be the same hardness but the citrine can scratch the green stone.

Your "Emerald" certainly shouldn't leak dye when you scrub it with Acetone. I'm not sure what you have there.

The Citrine looks like it may be part of a boule of maybe CZ. A specific gravity test would soon help with that ID. It's not easy to give a good ID from a photo. It still maybe Citrine too.

Lol, thanks Rusted ( yes - I like the way you stated- shouldn’t leak dye 😊) legend.  Ok that’s one area to stay away from - India🙃. I’m guessing you newer know what you are getting from a picture. Cheers re citrine- it was found in the box of the machine - wasn’t really sure what I was looking at. 👍

I would be using a piece of that yellow stone for your second stone. CZ is usually fairly easy to cut and looks a million dollars when done.

JBK, I wouldn't cut that design. It doesn't perform very well and that 3.1 degree angle looks horrible. Give me a bit 10-15minutes and I'll do I design for you.MB
