You do realise this is cruel Findem to those of us way down south. My eyes become almost Gollum-like when I see those beautiful sapphires and garnets.

Happy Fossicking from Chookie

Geology Rocks, I really dig it.
My rocks are gneiss, don’t take them for granite.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the comments about the first video. Here's another, this time fossicking at Rainy Swamp. The creek from here runs into Yarrow Creek but the gemstones are different: no garnets and more black tourmaline are the obvious differences. The sapphire is more varied in colour too and usually more worn. Enjoy.

I never seem to be in Glen Innes on a Wednesday ... always seems to be a weekend. Will have to time my travel better as these videos make your Wednesday trips look like a great social and fossicking occassion.

We aim to go out every Wednesday and at the moment it's only the weather that is likely to stop us. Once again storms could prevent us from making it into Yarrow Creek next week but Rainy Swamp is always accessible.

Not that there's anything wrong with Rainy Swamp - though after several months of the same location...a change of scenery is very much welcome...  8)

Please do, keep 'em coming. The more we see of Australia, the more we want to see in person. We aren't city or tourist trap people, getting out in the brush and enjoying natures bounty [especially the rocks] is the good life for us. Thank you.

This video is a change from fossicking. I take you along with me on a walk I do fairly often out into the countryside near my home. Enjoy!

I really hope you can get over here llarson, give us plenty of notice and I'm sure there'll be a few of us that could help with additional directions, tips and itinerary planning. It's a big country and there's multiple gems rich areas to focus on.

I ended up not going today - the people who rang yesterday didn't show up. Perhaps they were scared off by the wind and the 14 degree temperature. Better luck next week. The one after is Boxing Day so I hope we have a few holiday makers who can come and enjoy a warm day in Yarrow Creek.  hotthirsty

Here's my third Glen Innes area fossicking video. It's of the place we know as The Bottom End on Yarrow Creek, because it's at the bottom end of the property where the water flows on into the neighbour's place.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey3vFrb11TE
We visited this area frequently from 2002-2006 but what you see in the video was photographed only after 2006. It's one of those places with extensive pools which no-one really wants to enter.
May I suggest that anyone who is following these videos becomes a subscriber on Youtube? My name there is celticjohn1. Someone beat me to my real name findem, though I haven't come across them yet. You may need to have a Youtube name yourself to be able to do this.
