Check out the photos on this MinDat forum thread - somebody has acquired a big chunk of sapphire (kind of) - 11kg !!!

They are from Eudamullah Station in the Gascoyne Region of WA.

Wouldnt have a clue - some of the replies mentioned Poona but I dont know if these were educated guesses or very wild guesses.

I havent seen any sapphire like yours above or those in the photos - they are certainly different to those we get over this side of the country. I suppose quite a different formation environment.
